Did You Know? PART (II) – Ni John Fru Ndi Turned Down UN Proposal for Southern Cameroons / Ambazonia Independence in the 1990s.
Did you know that one of the earliest names in the struggle for the restoration of the independence of the Southern Cameroons is a certain Fon Fongum Gorji DINKA who calls himself the Head of State of Ambazonia? Actually, his group called the Republic of Ambazonia, RoA is a SCACUF constituent member.
Did you know that as early as the 1990s, Gorji DINKA filed an application for membership of Ambazonia to the UN? The UN told him and his delegation that it were possible to seat the Southern Cameroons / Ambazonia at the UN on one condition. The condition was for all Southern Cameroons Members of Parliament to withdraw from the Parliament of La Republique. At the time, the UN said Southern Cameroons’ MPs were giving legitimacy of La Republique’s rule over us. Immediately, Fon DINKA quickly alerted Fru Ndi; he explained everything to Fru Ndi to convene a meeting to stop his MPs from going to Yaounde. Hear Fon Gorji DINKA;
“…we were advised (my colleagues at the United Nations), that we (the UN) have examined all the documentation on how you people got together and found that there is nothing at the UN here which legalises the Republic of CameroUn ruling your country. But your MPs; the people you have elected are giving legitimacy by the fact that they are participating in the government of the Republic of CameroUn. If you can get your people to boycott that parliament, we will give you a seat at the United Nations … so I had this discuss with Fru Ndi on phone. Ngundam was here; it was a conference call. I told him (Fru Ndi) what the situation was. It required just blackmail. It was a matter of writing a letter to these our MPs that by the 31st of October, you stop going to Yaounde because (at the time), Yaounde Parliament was to meet in November. If they were absent from that parliament for only 48 hours, we would have been free. In fact, even today, you who say you have control over these boys back home; if we get our MPs to be absent from the Yaunde Parliement, we will become free. So, we air mailed the papers to Fru Ndi, he took them and burnt them. We couldn’t understand what happened; however, a separate set was sent to Yongbang in Douala. He took it across to Steven Tita in Limbe. Tita summoned the four MPs in Fako and it was a unanomous support to boycott Yaounde…”
My Comment: Find the time to listen to the five minutes long attached interview. Get it from the horse’s own mouth before SDF apologists come attacking me. ‘No be me talk’am oh’. Listen to Fon Gorji DINKA himself.
We insist that for a smooth ride to Buea, our MPs just have to reconvene at Buea and say, NO MORE, NO MORE’. But worry not, we have mighty brains now behind the struggle and rest assured that a lot is being done behind the scenes for victory.
It is important to know that, given his current age, Fon Gorji DINKA wanted to handover all the documents in his possession to HRH Hon. Lord Justice AYAH Paul but the two men never met due to circumstances beyond their control.
NB: This post is not in any way, shape or form meant to ridicule anyone. I am only running a ‘Did You Know?’ Series to educate people on what the struggle is all about.
From a federalist to an ‘independentist’. The Southern Cameroons MUST be free.
